Criminal Investigation Division

The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for the investigation of crimes that occur in Batesville, Arkansas.  The Investigators' duties include, but are not limited to, processing crime scenes through collecting and interpreting physical evidence, interviewing witnesses and suspects, and documenting the crime scenes through photographs and written observations so these documents may be presented to the prosecutor in a case file of the crime being investigated.  It is the commitment of the CID to strive for excellence and professionalism when identifying crime, solving crime, and obtaining convictions that enhance the quality of life for the citizens and visitors of Batesville.  The CID for the Batesville Police Department consists of four full-time Investigators led by a CID Commander.

 

Patrol Division

The Patrol Division consists of twenty-one full-time certified officers including a Patrol Lieutenant, four Shift Sergeants, four Corporals, and twelve Patrolmen.  Patrol officers are responsible for answering and handling all calls for service from the public in Batesville.  They are responsible for patrolling all city streets and providing a presence as a measure to help deter crime.  All officers respond to complaint calls, crimes in progress, take reports, work accidents, and perform a wide range of duties on a daily basis.

The patrol unit has the responsibility to maintain a safe and orderly environment for citizens and visitors in all areas of Batesville.  These are the men and women who are the first to respond to your call for help.  They are almost always the first to arrive on a scene and give aid and comfort the injured.  They often put themselves in harm's way every day to stabilize a violent domestic call or search a dark building for a dangerous suspect.

 

Reserve Officers

The Reserve Officer Unit is a volunteer group of part-time reserve officers who assist the Patrol Division as needed by patrolling the city and providing additional security for local events.
