Public Training Program
The Batesville Police Department, in conjunction with the Law Enforcement Community Relations Team, is working to provide the public with training opportunities in an effort to foster a deeper acquaintance and mutual respect between officers and our fellow citizens of Batesville and Independence County.
BPD believes a well-prepared, knowledgeable community is our biggest and most important partner!
Law Enforcement Community Relations Team (LECRT)
Mission Statement:
"The purpose and mission of the Law Enforcement Community Relations Team is to enhance the community's knowledge of, involvement in, and support for all law enforcement agencies within Independence County, Arkansas. The Team's efforts will focus on improving public awareness of the various operations of the law enforcement agencies within Independence County, promoting the safety of our residents through various educational programs and events, soliciting public involvement and support for the agencies and their officers through increased positive interaction between the public and the agencies, and assisting in providing the officers the resources needed to most effectively serve and protect our residents."
LECRT Training Programs
The team is comprised of reserve officers, full-time officers and civilian volunteers.
- Active Shooter Response (2 hrs): teaches how to respond proactively to an active threat until law enforcement arrives on scene, as well as what to do when law enforcement arrives and engages any remaining threats.
- Active Shooter Response (multi-day): "Train the trainer" instructor course for law enforcement and civilians, provides attendees the information and opportunity they need to teach the two hour course to their organizations.
- Ladies Self-defense (2 hrs): gear towards equipping attendees with the knowledge and skills to both avoid dangerous situations and how to proactively defend themselves in unavoidable life-threatening situations through a combination of discussions, demonstrations and hands-on training.
- Tactical Security Assessment: geared towards helping local businesses identify areas where they can enhance security, employee safety and threat response capability through facility walk-throughs, inspections and follow-on recommendations.
- School Programs: From elementary school to college, provides multiple opportunities for training and interaction with officers including reading to students, basic safety awareness, internet safety, officer equipment demonstrations, etc.
